I can't be surprised that Iran wants to one-up the United States in terms of stakes:
Iran will target "32 US bases and the heart of Israel" if it is attacked, the Fars news agency quoted an aide to supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as saying on Saturday.
"If America and Israel shoot any bullets and missiles against our country, Iranian armed forces will target the heart of Israel and 32 US bases in the region before the dust from this attack has settled," Mojtaba Zolnoor said.
Government spokesman Gholam Hossein Elham on Saturday dismissed speculation that Iran risked being attacked by the United States, saying that a military strike would be "craziness."
Indeed, but the US has been run by drooling neocon crazies for eight years. If there's one thing we can be sure of, it's that they will do anything in the service of American hegemony and oil conquest. In an era where oil is peaking in many locations, our desperate cling to oil as our primary source of energy is the ballast that will finally sink the ship of state.
