My Liberal Identity:

You are a Peace Patroller, also known as an anti-war liberal or neo-hippie. You believe in putting an end to American imperial conquest, stopping wars that have already been lost, and supporting our troops by bringing them home.

Senior Moments With John McCain

posted Monday, 7 July 2008

Nobody buys this on its second go-round:

In a paper released today, Sen. John McCain's (R-AZ) made the laughable claim that a McCain administration would pay off the enormous deficit through "savings from victory in the Iraq and Afghanistan operations." The claim comes on the same day McCain's campaign vowed to balance the budget in four years - while refusing to name any specifics on how to go about achieving that goal.

This sounds familiar. Ah yes:

On March 27, 2003, Wolfowitz told a Congressional panel that oil revenue earned by Iraq alone would pay for Iraq's reconstruction after the Iraq war; he testified: "The oil revenues of that country could bring between $50 and $100 billion over the course of the next two or three years. Now, there are a lot of claims on that money, but ... We are dealing with a country that can really finance its own reconstruction and relatively soon."

Neocon dreams. The stuff of fantasy.
